FAQ's

Because we already know what you’re thinking.

Where are you located?
We’re at 22 Kirk Avenue SW in Roanoke, Virginia just a few doors down from LUCKY Restaurant.

What’s your venue like? I’ve never been.
The Spot on Kirk is a casual atmosphere where the music takes center stage. Musicians don’t have to compete with clanking dishes or screaming bar patrons – they just perform for the sake of performing. All shows are considered general admission, but there’s not a bad seat in the house. The coolest part of our venue? It feels like you’re at a private concert in your living room, surrounded by people who are there to appreciate it with you. We don’t serve food, but we do serve drinks. At each show, Blue Ridge Catering provides a cash bar with beer, wine, sodas, and water.

You don’t serve food, so where do I eat?
The Spot is in good company! Some of our favorite restaurants are right here on Kirk Avenue, with dozens more just a couple of blocks away in the Historic Roanoke City Market. Come early enough to grab a bite to eat nearby, or hit up some of Roanoke’s favorite late-night spots for signature cocktails. Find specifics in our Around Town section.

And sleep?
While we’d love for you to stay as long as you can, our chairs aren’t really made for sleeping. There are plenty of accommodations in and around Downtown Roanoke. If you haven’t already checked out our Around Town section, you should probably do that now.

How do I get tickets?
Tickets are sold online through trusted third-party vendors. You’ll find a “BUY TICKETS” button attached to each of our booked events on this website. Don’t want to buy online? You can buy tickets at the door with cash. Just know they may cost more the day of the show or, even worse, the show may be completely sold out.

How do I know if tickets are still available?
Online ticket sales are cut off at least eight hours prior to a show to give ticketing agents time to send The Spot a final will-call list. In most cases, tickets will still be available at the door. If a show is sold out, we’ll be announcing it everywhere possible: this website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and from various regional mountain tops (just in case you’re within earshot.)

Where should I park?
There is free street-parking available in Downtown Roanoke after 5:00 pm. If you can’t tango into a space, there are paid parking lots and garages nearby. Two pay-by-the-hour lots are on the same block as The Spot, and a short walk away you’ll find the Center in the Square Garage and the Church Avenue Garage.

Do you allow smoking inside The Spot on Kirk? Kids? Pets?
No smoking. Kids are welcome. And pets aren’t allowed (unfortunately.)

How do I keep up with what’s happening at The Spot?
We constantly update our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but perhaps the best way to keep up with us is to sign up for our newsletter. On the desktop version of our website, you’ll find a link in the top, right corner of the page. If you’re on your mobile device, you’ll have to wait until you’re on a computer. The sign-up button disappears on phones and tablets, so you can’t sign up if you’re using one of those.

I want to perform at The Spot. Who do I need to talk to?
All of our bookings are handled by outside agents who are dedicated to making sure audiences are guaranteed a great listening experience. If you have an audience in the Roanoke area or are touring through the Blue Ridge, email us at info@theSpotonKirk.org.

I scrolled down this entire page looking for information on renting The Spot for my special event. Can you just tell me about it already?
Sure. The Spot on Kirk can be rented for special events depending on availability. The venue holds about 125 people. Inside, you’ll find 95 chairs, three tables, two bathrooms, a stage, and a projector with a screen. Rental pricing starts around $300, but will vary depending on the length of your rental, the type of event, and whether or not your event is private or open to the public. If none of this helped, or you have more questions, please email us at info@theSpotonKirk.org.
